Job Description: Responsibility for the overall management of the tool room for the organization including the development, performance and maintenance of the tool room, problem identification and productivity improvement, stock control to align an efficient system, maximizing performance and minimizing costs.

Key Responsibilities: Strategy and Development

  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice tool room vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.
  • Provide specialist technical advice and support on all aspects of Tool design, manufacturing and repairs & maintenance.
  • Supervise/Manage the running and plan activities of the tool room facilities and toolmakers.
  • Supports Production and Engineering to manage and guarantee on time availability of tools to ensure continuous production and increase of OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)
  • Maximise the use of all resources, including IT and database maintenance for tracking all tools, implementing a planned schedule of maintenance and repair activity to ensure a log is maintained on faults and service history of tools
  • Suggest budget for investment of new equipment modifications and repairs.
  • Ensure all stock items, tool inserts and spares are organised. Good housekeeping of storage of tools.
  • Oversee all work through the tool room efficiently and cost effectively and ensure that all target dates for tooling are met
  • Manufacture new tools from technical drawings to a high level of workmanship and in an efficient, cost-effective manner
  • Produce written reports and make presentations. Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems
  • Stay current and up to date on any changes that may affect the tool room products, materials and advise others of any impact. CAD and CNC programming may be required
  • Develop, implement and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for each area of responsibility  Ensure Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met by working to the overall plan, including review, reporting, and action plans.
  • Ensure an effective interface with other departmental staff is maintained

  • Experience of managing Profit and Loss (P&L) responsibilities for manufacturing  Understanding of manufacturing and procurement/supply chain
  • Understanding of ISO9001
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office

Job Description: Responsibility for arranging, repairing, and maintaining the tools within timeframe.
Troubleshooting and solving technical problems

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build, repair and maintain various mechanical tools and dies.
  • Assist in Quick set up and removal of tools from machine. Proper identification and traceability of tools.
  • Should ensure that production is not standstill due to tool failure.
  • Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools, using machine tools and hand tools.
  • Follow 5S, compliance to ISO, Safety, customer requirements, attending audits, proper housekeeping.
  • Perform product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
  • Update Tool History Card and follow with Production Process (Tool Setting, Quality Procedure)
  • Documentation of - Tool history card, drawings, ISO/Customer - requirements, etc.
  • Follow with New product Development. Maintaining Critical Spare Record and stock. Other work relating to tool and dies

Competencies:

  • Bachler’s degree/diploma, Good visual accuracy, Min 5 years of experience in tool and die making, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, Ability to read drawings, Able to prepare, read and interpret written reports, instruction, procedures and guidelines.
